The City of Faenza is a local authority whose main goals are preserving and fostering the common good of its community. To this purpose it develops political, managerial and adiministrave functions on its territory. The Municipality grants public services and  supports social and economic development of its community in the respect of national law and regulation by its administrative organization. The personnel as a whole consists of nearly 400 public servants employed in 10 Departments (Settori) structured in 38 Services (Servizi). The Economic Development Department (Settore Sviluppo Economico) is one of the ten and deals three main activity lines:

1) Local economy promotion and fostering
This line is implemented by several actions (projects) supporting the creation of new enterprises and the development of existing one in the area of the Municipality; a special attention is paid to innovation and technological transfer related to local peculiarities. Also, territorial marketing activities are developed in order to attract new business, support tourism and enhance the area attractiveness. Further, the department is involved in the elaboration of work and equal opportunities policies, in the development of environmental and local development actions; cooperation with University is also carried out.

2)  City public group management
The implementation of this action line refers to the management of the outsourcing process as a whole, which also includes management and control activities. At present the City of Faenza is partner in 19 Companies, 1 Consortium, 8 Foundations, 6 Associations, 2 Public Companies for care services and two Agencies.

3) Regulating economic activities
This line concerns the issue of certificates, permissions, authorizations for local enterprises and business according to existing laws and regulations. The Economic Development Dept. aims at improving the process by simplification and speeding up the procedures for companies through the Sportello Unico per le Attività Produttive, a specific single-stop office dealing with more than one hundred different procedures ( www.racine.ra.it/suapfaenza ).
